well, i have been putting off the construction of a rear bar for the disco for to long now. With all the crap that has been going on over the last 18 months its time to get serious.
So, when there is gap in assignments over the next few weeks the rear bumper is coming off and i will be measuring up and making a new one. Gotta have a look at the design, but have seen a few good ones on AULRO over the last few weeks. My main issue is how to mount it correctly and I want to have LED indicators and brake lights in the bar so gotta work out how im going to do that. A project thread and pics will follow. Im not much of a welder so this will be proof that if i can do it anyone can. Matt

I'd have a crack a making a new bumper & bullbar if I had a welder. I have just put a new drag link & steering damper on the Cuiser & it has made a lot of difference to the handling. Cheers

with the price of commercial rear bars you can buy a small mig welder and the materials to make the bar and still save money.

Hi Bellie, im going to get two of these, Auto 1 in bathurst sell them for $50 each or there abouts. The ones im looking at getting are the Model No- 200BSTIM with the indicator and brake light in one, they are pretty much the same set up as the lights that are in the bar now. http://www.ledautolamps.com/product-details.php?pid=68Been looking around at some steel to make the bar from, found some gal tubing at Metal land in bathurst for $110 for an 8m length, its seconds but will do the job, will just need to grind the gal off where im welding.

a lot of the larger LED tail lights off the trucks used to get stolen........they were mounted in a piece of rubber..... thieves would just simply pop them out......and score themselves a couple of hundred dollars worth of lights in less than 5 seconds.........
the ones you are looking at seem to be screwed in......which should be a bit safer........
i might have to invest in a couple for lurchs bull bar......one of mine is cracked.......and half the other is missing......
and if you need to know where to connect up extra lights......if you look up from under your car.....behind the drivers side tail light..... there should be a connector hanging down......it may have a blanking plug fitted to keep it clean and dry....
this plug is for connecting trailer wiring to.....if it hasnt been used on yours.....you can use that if you like..... its all fused and connected which should make life easier.....
i hope......

Hi zook, yeah they have 2 bolts that protrude out of the back of them, i will just drill the holes in the bar and then drill two holes from the back to put a socket through and tighten them up, then i can put grommets in the holes to stop water and mud getting into the bar.
I am just going to use the wiring from the lights that are in the bar now. red lights in the bar arent brake or tail lights, they are wired to a switch in the dash and can be turned on in inclement weather conditions. Im just going to leave them as that to meet rego.

fog lights.......
if you are gonna put red lights in the bar......connect them up to come on with the brake lights......
a lot of people used to do that with the fog lights on the range rovers......it made the lights look better and safer..... with just the top light coming on......it looked like there was a couple of globes blown......
