Any info on the "Aussie Locker" ? Is that the same as the "Lokka" ? I can get them from the US for $269 USD.
Those of you with a Detroit Locker, or any other sort of auto locker in the rear of your 4WD, is there any chance you'd take me for a drive, or possibly even let me drive it on the road sometime, so I can see how they behave?
what sort of Detroit Locker are you taking about the full hemisphere replacement or the ez locker which is like the lock right?....... the lokka locks from the guy in SA i assume you are talking about.... i have hear they are ok i have heard of a few breakages but i believe he gives a lifetime warranty with them.... they are an exact copy of the lock rights... you can drive mine next time we come down that way 4x4ing if ya like.... thats not a bad idea, but you need to remember that auto lockers will behave differantly in each vehicle. It might not be much but its something to rememeber
that's true but its not that hard to learn to drive with them and there is certainly nothing they do that will scare you the only time you even notice them is around town on roundabouts and what not...

I believe he means Detroit as in the brand Kim.
Dauntless, alot of the guys on AULRO use them in their Rovers with great success and I have heard nothing but praise for them, a quality product from what i gather.
You will find however that the majority of complaints about auto lockers of any description are generally related to the person not liking how they operate as opposed to poor quality etc. Matt

Thanks for the info guys. I'm trying to find more info on the Aussie Locker. Any ideas? That price is hard to pass up.
The Detroit I was referring to was the original, simply branded "Detroit Locker".

What do you think guys? http://www.aussielocker.com/I think I want one. But with the low cost per unit, relatively high cost of freight, ease of installation, claimed gentle locking/unlocking characteristics, I think I'd be better off getting two. No reason why I would need to install the front straight away though, it can sit in a box on the shelf for a while.

Not really. It was designed by the same guy/company at one stage, but has gone the other way in terms of development. They've kept it stronger, simpler, and cheaper.

As you say you dont have to install both straight way.

I agree, it's hard to see any difference in the photos. However, this is what I have read: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=179701

I don't think it really matters. If it's as good as they say it is, or if it's only as good as a Lock Right or Lokka, then I still can't go wrong for the price.

all you can do is try them, then do a product review in the product reviews forum

Just ordered a pair of Aussie Locker XD-20830s. Cost was $570AUD. Will sort out shipping to me when they arrive at their destination in the US.
